Visit to Utah and the fun drive home

We went to Utah to go to the blessing of Baby Cadence. Unfortunately, we got lost and got there just after the blessing. Sorry Kim and Ryan. We did make it to the open house after. It was so nice to be with our family. We love you all so much.
We had a fun trip to Utah. We mostly just hung out, played games, and ate YUMMY food. Papa taught Lilly how to plant onions. She loves her papa very much. Then Lilly became grandmas best friend. I think Lilly had grandma doing everything that grandmas allow two year old to do, but mothers do not allow. Grandma taught Lilly to sit on the kitchen counter and eat whatever she wants whenever she wants. Lilly loved it so much. I enjoyed it too, until it was time to go home. Natalie gave us some gently used toys (which I hid for Easter presents). We had plenty of toys. Well, grandma carried Lilly out to the car and Lilly carried 4 more toys in her hands. I told Lilly to give them back and grandma said, "She gets to keep them, I said". Well, we cannot dispute grandma. It was good because Lilly had something to play with on the ride home. Speaking of the ride home, that is a another story. We started back around 4 pm. We all went potty before we left and Lilly was in big girl panties. We got on the road and about a half hour later Lilly had to go potty. Well, we were worried about having an accident so we pulled off the highway and tried to let her "go in nature". She thought it was fun, but no piddle. We put a pull up diaper on her and kept going. Fifteen mins later she said she had to go again. This time we went to a gas station and she went a little piddle. Allen put air in the tires and off we went again. The next time Lilly got bored she said that she had to go potty AGAIN. We were prepared, she had a pull up on and we were not going to stop. She was just tired of being in the car and wanted to get out again. She is a sneaky gal. I love her guts and sometimes I can be so frustrated with her too. She is the kind of girl that gets caught with her hand in the cookie jar, then shoves the cookie in her mouth and laughs. Later she says "I'm sorry mama" or "I'm having a hard time" or "mama, I'm frustrated to baby James". It just melts my heart. Anyway, the drive home was good until just before Pocatello. The snow was bad and the roads became dangerous. We saw tons of slide offs and a rollover. By this point it was 7 pm and Lilly had found a way to put her foot in James' face while they were both in their car seats. James had been crying crocodile tears for a half hour and I was throwing animal crackers into the back seat to keep them quiet. Lilly would let me know when she wanted more with a high scream. We decided to stay the night in Pocatello. We found a room for just under 50 bucks and we stopped for the night. James slept in a pack and play and I made a pretend bed for Lilly. I pushed the footrest next to the chair and called it her special bed. She slid off a few times during the night, but at least Allen and I had the bed to ourselves. Well we made it home safe by 9 am the next morning. It is nice to be home.

  1. Sounds fun! That is an experience you will never forget. The funny part about all of your stories, and mine, is that they always seem to have kids crying and screaming. I bet we did that to mom too. Poor mom! I'm so glad you got home safely. I'm sorry we didn't have much to spend with each other, but hopefully the next visit isn't too far away. You have such a cute family! Take care! Love you
