Allen went to Afghanistan

Two days before my birthday Allen told me he had to go to Afghanistan for a work trip. On my birthday he flew out early in the morning. First he flew to Indiana for a medical check and security clearance. After a week in Indiana he began his journey to the Middle East. It took him about 5 days and multiple flights to finally get to his destination. I was glad that he could communicate with us with video over the internet. We learned that Afghanistan is 10 1/2 hours later than Utah. It was a tough couple of weeks here at home without Allen. Unfortunately while he was gone he missed my birthday, Fathers Day, and James 4th birthday. Oh, and he arrived home the evening of the 4th of July. When he got home he was exhausted. On the way home from the airport Madalyn barfed in her car seat and he was willing to clean it up. Hows that for a welcome home present. lol

I was so very glad to have him home. Then he told me there might be a possibility that he might have to go back. Sure enough, he left to go back to Afghanistan at the end of July. He was gone for a week and a half that time. Again, he came home exhausted.

His work sent me flowers for my birthday. While he was gone we went to his work party without him. The kids had fun on the bounce houses and we had a good time. Next year, we hope to go with him to his work party.
