James had a wonderful 7th birthday. We celebrated at home, at a family reunion, and at his birthday party at the park. The girls and I made an awesome paper mache pinata.Sadly, when the kids started wacking it,the top ripped out. I just picked up the the pinata and dumped all the candy onto the ground. The kids had fun wacking the pinata while it was on the ground anyways. Due to a clearance sale at Walmart, James got Skylanders for his birthday. There was a great deal and I had to dig to the bottom of a pile to find the last Wii Skylander starter kit. Luckily, Lilly was with me, and was able to distract James so he didn't even notice. He got an additional Skylander dude at his friend birthday party. Brighton and Collin got him Hot Dog. Then, James saved up enough money to buy a used Eyebrawl at the game store. BEST DAY EVER :)
Grandma and Grandpa Gilbert sent him a Skylander dude and a Chima Lego set. It was an awesome fire and ice set. On a summer morning James and I did legos together. He did everything on the Chima set (I only had to help 1 time). Then, I took on the challenge to rebuild some of his old sets. Following the instructions, I rebuilt a Chima Lion, Eglor spedor, and a jacked up mixel.
Grandma and Papa Cutright gave him a cool Lego Star Wars set of books. He loves to read those books after we put him to bed. I have learned more tidbits of info from those book than I ever did from the movies. Mostly because I fell asleep during the movies. Anyways, James loves it. We currently have a Lego Star Wars movie on hold at the library. The kids have not yet seen the actual star wars movies. --They were watching Gilligan's Island with Allen one night. The cast was acting out a melodrama. Yea, it scared the kids. ???
He picked blue frosting for his cake. It turned tounges blue. There is a cute pic of Maddie, Lilly, and Aubree (our neighbor).
Happy Birthday James! We love you forever. You are a sweet, thoughtful, kind, funny, and smart kid. I am so glad you are in our family. You are a natural peacemaker and readily forgive others. You and Dad love to have "man time" , play video games together, and practice your karate moves. Most of the time you do your chores without complaint. You use your mind to focus on difficult assignments in school. You are friend to everyone, even when you don't know their name. You take ideas and think through them. You ask interesting questions. You have an understanding of spiritual things and don't doubt the reality of God. You surprise me sometimes when you teach family home evening lessons. I realize that even when it does not appear that you are paying attention, you are still listening.
